theres a pretty good guide on the E30 Wiki page

why thank you!!!

If you have any questions or problems dont hesitate to ask. it will save you quite a lot of cash over ''original'' ones.

I have a question:
from what did you fabricate the cross hairs? did you paint them with high temp paint?
thanks

i used galvonised steel sheet, about 2 mm thick. i painted with ordinary paint, but advise heat resistant if you can find it. dont worry about the colour too much as long as its black.

alternatives i have heard of are an old CD!! but not sure how that would take the heat, but as long as you dont drive for prolonged periods with high beam on then should not be an issue

However the auto-ignition temperature for the resin the CF is cast in is much lower.

That is of course not to say that CF cannot be used. As far as I know the auto-ignition temperature of common resins is around 500C and 100W bulbs get up to around 100C, so you should still be good.

Oh, I thought of another thing. You're dealing with a reflector which means that a lot of energy could potentially be concentrated on parts of the CF sheet. Be careful when using them, if possible a bench test with headlights on for as long as possible would be a good precaution. If they don't burst in to flames or explode you should be good.
