Near Side Indicators Not Working

I have an intermittent fault whereby the indicators (front rear & side) stop working and you get the rapid flash of the indicator warning lamp on the dashboard, this only effects the nearside(passenger side)

Lights work fine when you switch the hazard warning lights on, but still do not work when you revert to trying the nearside indicators

Anyone any ideas?... Irritating and rather dangerous!

Hi - firstly the indicators normally flash at twice the speed as a sign that one of the bulbs has blown.
But your case sounds similar to what happened on my car - the fast flashing was intermittent ... it was the connector for one of the front indicators that I thought had come loose - wiggled the wire and it was ok ... for a while. Then it was constantly flashing fast - reason was the connector had rusted away underneath the rubber weather boot. So both the connector and the plug had disintegrated. Bought a new indicator but the dealer didn't have the right plug for the wire end .. just fit a couple of elec connectors on the wires and wrap with insulation tape.
Bumper had to come off (mine is pre facelift) to get to the 7mm mounting screws.

Sounds possible, but did your indicators work when the hazard warning light was pressed, when the were not working on the indicator stalk?

If the indicators all work with the hazard switch at the same time as they are faulty on the indicator switch, then the problem is not with the front indicator assemblies, althouigh they are prone to intermittent operation due to corrosion on cheap bulbs.
The most likely problem is the hazard light switch, followed ( a long way behind) by the indicator switch.

So its a case of cleaning/checking contacts or replacing

Lack of use is the root cause. Proper electrical contact cleaner, vigourous working of the switch, followed a few hours later by some spray silicon grease usually works. No need to dismantle.Just push a small screwdriver in beside the button to push it up one side, and spray,away.
