Hello!

I've searched extensively here and elsewhere for definitive info on speakers for e30's and how to fit them (apologies if there is something right on the money, if there is please point me in the right direction) :)

So:

1.

Specifically I am looking for confirmation of what size and specifications the speakers a 3.25i Convertible from 1989 has.

I know I have 4 speakers (1 in each front kick on the walls and 1 in the rear passenger walls) as opposed to the 6 speaker option that I understand exists as well. (?)

I'm pretty sure they are 5.25" or 13cm all round - correct?

2.

Can you guys please recommend options for both front and back.

From reading I gather you have to be careful in order to get speakers with correct depth so as to make sure they fit properly.

I'm keen to get the audio sounding great so I have a few quid to throw at it - nothing too mental though!

I've read about Kenwood having some good options so any further on that would be cool but totally open to your guidance!

3.

Finally can you guys advise me on fitting these speakers, front and back?

What I need and how to do it.

Thanks in advance! :)

Front and back speakers are 5.25".

Rear speakers are more difficult to fit as there isn't enough space behind the panel. I've got some Vibe SEK50 component speakers in the rear and some Kickers in the front.

I got rid of the standard speaker cover panels in the rear and made my own due to the speakers sticking out too much. Pics below:

If you want to get good sound concentrate on the front speakers, an amp makes a massive difference. Also consider using tweeters with crossovers - I used Hertz speakers and amp, sounds fantastic.

Cool, thanks for the advice fellas!

ImysE30 - I'm keen to keep the car looking stock as possible so wont be getting rid of the rear speaker covers - can you advise from your research on a decent pair of speakers that will fit behind the speaker cover please?

Morat - can you point me to some specific topics on speaker selection / installation? I've had a good look round the I.C.E. section and not found too much of help.

Pony2 - they look nice! Only issue for me is I'm based in Ibiza, Spain at the moment so pretty limited on kit to: Kenwood, Pioneer and Alpine. (I am prepared to get stuff sipped if it really takes my fancy...)

Thanks!

You don't need rear speakers!!!!!!!!!

Get a good set of components up front, on a nice little amp!!

If you haven't got panels with tweeters in, where the door mirrors mount - get some!!! I'm sure someone on here will have some available!!

Well fitted components - a 5.25" in the kick panel and a tweeter (prob 1") behind the mirrors will look totally stock and sound lovely!!!

As for make/model - get to a shop and have a listen!!! They must have a shop or two over there?? It's only got to please you're ears, not ours!! Lol!!

I like DLS stuff - great for vocals, but not the cheapest!!
You can spend as much or as little as you like really!!!

If you don't mind second hand stuff, have a look on the talkaudio.co.uk forum. You get some good bargains in the for sale section!!!

For new, it's often cheaper to buy online too, so you should be able to get pretty much anything you like shipped out there!!

pon2 - nice one, thats really helpful!

miniblob - you'd have thought there would be some car hifi shops in Ibiza eh as I did... unfortunately there aren't any where you can demo stuff etc.

Thanks for your input. :)

Anyone got any love for Kenwood / Alpine / Pioneer component speakers for the front of a Cabby??

Can someone show me how to remove the front kick well speaker grill / covers please?

Think I've finally found a speaker solution that will remain stock looking and sound good. :)
