Has anyone got/had one for their e30? Are these any good?

I'm looking at a few examples for my car, as I do quite a far bit of mileage, and want to avoid those dreaded stone chips etc on the car.

What should I look for when buying one?

Cheers

I think they are a stupid looking dub thing.. I hate them..

I can see there practicality.. wouldnt look bad if they are colour coded to the car...

Another alternative is clear protective film applied to the affcted areas - 3M make some stuff that can be bought by the measure, in cut pieces or professionally applied, but it ain't cheap.

That would be a more long term measure?

They look good on darker coloured cars IMO, wouldn't notice it that much with your car being black.

:ban:

Sorry but bras are for tits :bolt:

Might protect from stonechips on cars where the bonnet drops down at the front of the car ( like the vw beetle ) but the area of bonnet thats actually vulnerable to stonechips on an E30 is very small - hardly worth covering the front foot of your bonnet in moisture-trapping ugly black plastic.

Oakey your car is  don't ruin the look by fitting one of these 'orrible things

I got the lights from another zoner, Lennerd, in Belguim.

The car bra I got from Alex in France, Greentouring.

What about the remaining painted areas that will get stone chipped like,

the front of the wings
the back of bonnet near the scuttle (mine has one here!)
the front bumper
the front valance
the front spoiler

A pointless thing to have from a purposefull point of view and a gay thing to have from a style point of view.

Dont do it!

I was looking at a full bonnet bra, which would cover the entire bonnet and all the front bumper

Then it would need cut outs or you wont be able to see where you going at night and your engine will overheat.

It's custom fitted to the model of car...

http://www.autobra.co.uk/shop/product_i ... cts_id/297

That's one example of what I'm looking at.

Besides, as mentioned earlier, I wouldn't drive around potting about town with one on, more for when I'm on the motorway

they looks shite, and their effect is questionable. they might stop a few stone chips, but they also trap moisture and dirt.

plus, what's the point of having a good looking car under the bra if you have to drive it with a sodding ugly lump of black plastic covering the front of it up. half the fun of a road trip in an e30 is because it goes and looks like an e30.

kinda like people who have seat covers on their car all the time. whats the point of having a nice, mint seat if it never gets seen or sat in to be appreciated.

i'd rather put up with the odd chip and get them sorted when they get bad enough to warrant it rather than look like ive driven though a load of binbags.

minimise the chips by not sitting up the car infronts arse :D
cheers,

harry
