m30 3.0 engine will a m20 box fit it

AFAIK no it won't fit, M10 box can be used

I believe so. Best bet is to get a M30 box off a E34 535 :)

early 316' and 318's i believe were M10.

however, i'd use the beefier M30 box myself, surely it's bigger for a reason?
