Have been reading up on M50 conversions where people keep saying they pick up e34 525's for £400, where about? I can't find any for that price that haven't done crazy mileage

I found 4 in the local free-ads the weekend I picked up my e30. I wanted an e34, but after viewing the e30 first I bought it straight away.

There was a 518i for £250, 2x520's both £450 and a 525i for cant remember exactly, around £550..

Keep looking! Even a 530 on eBay close by which sold for £200.. had alternator problem and 300k on the clock!

Yeah but a 518, 520, 530 don't make very good donor cars, I know there's plenty of them

Your best bet would be to find a crashed one. From when I was looking for an e34 ( a good one to drive daily), I noticed that the 525i's especially the manuals are the most expensive by a fair way, as basically they are the allround best of the bunch.
I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage if the car has got a fbmwsh.
But I agree I don't know where people find these bargains!

A decent, well maintained E34 525i still has a value as they're such good, useable cars. Most £400 examples are sh!tters. It's a shame the original owners of 520i's spent all that money on a higher spec rather than a better engine!

i have a really nice e34 525i that is in vgc and i have just done water pump and stat, you could drive it so you could see how it is, it would also come with 5 months tax and mot and also half a tank of juice! very nice car but i have just bought a sport and the idea of it living on in a e30 sounds ok! non vanos 148k after £650 to a zoner or 800 in the trader next week.

There's a 525i Manual in Watson's, Ross. £280 plus £46 to dig the engine and box out for you.

Hurry up, because next time I'm not busy, I'll be having it.

Am I not right in thinking that the 520 and 525 engines are the same except for the crankshaft and pistons ??

Therefore if you buy a 520 it's cheaper , and fairly 'easy' to upgrade it .
