i have a 1990 318i and the passenger window is starting to act up. sometimes when i put it down it takes a while to put back up (sticking) does anybody know where to troubleshoot problems to solve this???

Swap the switches over, and see if the fault moves with the switch.

Switches can be opened to clean the tracks inside but be careful that the springs don't decide to take off when you open the switch. In my case, the tracks were worn so the only thing to do was replace the switch.

You should also treat the window frame rubbers and the tracks that hold the glass in position to a spray of silicone lubricant as these can get crusty with age and hamper the movement of the window.
