It can be a bit of a nightmare in this weather trying to remove a million flies from the front of your car.

I used to do this with the visor on my bike helmets.

Soak some paper towels in water and put them over the bits covered in flies. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then just wipe off with the towels. They come off very easily then.

Worked well on my visor but I confess I've not tried it on a car yet. I'm sure it would work though.

Anyone have any other method they use?

Clay bar if they are welded on, pre soak the car with shampoo solution to to soften the works too, just wash them away with the jet washer.

My misses a3 had hundreds of nasty ones splattered all over the front bumper, and being kingfisher blue(very light) they really let the car down.

I sacrifised a little bit of my clar bar, and it got them off a treat. You can buy 'bug and tar' remover, but I have never tried that. And I have to admit, I don't really like spraying random things onto nice paintwork, whereas a clay bar I know can't chemically harm the paint. :thumb:

A good soak with whatever you wash/shampoo the car with first should loosen them off, I like the idea of the paper towels - sure it would work well.

If they are really caked on i chuck a few buckets of water over the front of the car and then leave it too soak in,and then they usually come off fairly easily.

If that doesnt work use a brillo pad  :chuckle:

small bit of petrol takes them straight off. best to do that just before your about to wash/polish the whole car.

Must admit, took mine to a jet wash and they pretty much all came off. The wet towel trick on the visor is very handy if you have a motorbike though.

I was coming home on sat night from work about 10.30pm and was doing 40 on the bike and felt like i was getting pelted with a bb gun. This time of year with less wind is a mare.
