628s are rare because no body wanted them and the same is true today.
The seller is full of sh1t and trying it on, the 14" Alpina type wheels he is bleating about are worth £100 . Don't bother, buy a 635.

could'nt say it betterpacerpete wrote:That car is worth 2K tops if it is really clean and the repairs have been done to a good standard.

If you like the car and it's not rotten, it could be easily £2-3k - but it will not appreciate at anything like the rate 635CSis have. As said, the stuff about the wheels and chrome is a load of guff - offputting too, what else is the seller being less than genuine about? A similar condition 635 would indeed be silly money. I guess you're a bit like where I was buying my first e30 - I wanted a minter, rather than the most desirable spec, so bought a brown 4dr 320i, and it is a pleasure to own.

That's been for sale for ages. I would think they'll get north of 10 for it - I don't think the colour helps, and the miles are so low it'd be a bit of a shame to add to them substantially, so it's got a very limited audience - but they started at £19950 iirc. These sort of timewarp cars are so rare though that it's near impossible to value them - dealers tend to price them very high to start with and play the long game.rh306 wrote:djk wrote:e24 values seem to be all over the place at the moment - seems the market can't make its mind up about them. ..I do need to free up a bit of space first (the garage in tenanted at the moment). It seems that they've gone well past the bottom value wise though. I'm guessing (a non M6, non 635csi E24) will always be a slightly specialist classic, appealing to BMW-ophiles only - people who might also have a 2000C or a 700 on their wish lists? Looking at ones available now, there's a 20,000 miler on classiccarsforsale on at £16,950![]()

Good point. A 316i in white with steels and cloth will be rarer than a 325i Sport.djk wrote: ......... I guess you're a bit like where I was buying my first e30 - I wanted a minter, rather than the most desirable spec, so bought a brown 4dr 320i, and it is a pleasure to own.

No, the one on Old colonel's website, with a bootful of TRX bottletops and fitted with some pretty nasty 17" alpina reps and budget tyres - mmmm.... selling point....cecotto479 wrote:They're not TRXs and they're not Alpina reps - they're the correct 14" E12 style wheels.
Assuming we're still talking about the 628i?
