Is there any special precautions to take when removing and re-installing the ABS pump unit? I need to get access to the front of the passenger side wheel arch in the engine bay. Could there be brake bleeding problems?

Just make sure you get it it when you throw it in the bin.

But seriously there shouldnt be a problem just bleed it normally. If you do lose your pedal after its done try bleeding the master then the lines at the abs unit then again at the wheels. Should make sure all the air gets out. A bleeding machine is great in these cases.

This is the best way, you need to avoid getting air into the unit, I find gravity bleeding easiest and quickest

Thanks, planning on getting a Gunson pressure bleader kit. Are these type of self bleeding kits OK? When you say to bleed at the master and then at the ABS unit, you mean to bleed with the line disconnected at this point and re-connect when no sign air bubbles at this point?

Fit the lines back to the pump, then once you have fluid back in the res loosen off the lines on the pump one by one until fluid is coming through freely, then you can bleed the brakes as you would normally

OK, thanks, I should have realised that myself. Got too much sunshine on my head yesterday watching the Red Arrows in Galway, so not thinking straight at the moment!
