Hardest/most abrasive clay?

Ive got a lovely job of removing iron fillings from my paintwork coming up and have got a rough idea of what I need, auto glym fallout remover acid, and abrasive clay

Any recommendations for the clay? Or the process?
Also looks like I will have to do some very fine wet and dry flatting as I didnt notice the paint had bits of metal stuck in it until id spent a few minutes machine polishing

The most aggressive one I have used is Sonus grey. Not sure how effective it will be on iron fillings. How did they get there?

There are proper decontamination kits you can buy but they are bucks!

The car has been parked in a workshop since before christmas Dave, I think they have come from general grinding and metalworking, they are quite large particles though.
When I mopped and polished it last year I didnt notice anything like this, I can scratch at them with my nail and it takes quite a bit of effort to get them out

I would try Autoglym Fall out remover first then perhaps go on to Meguiars Agressive clay.

fall out remover is the way forward, heavy metal contamination and clay will make proper mess of the paintwork

I looked at the megs red clay and its over £20 for a 100g bar

Ive bought some 'other brand' aggressive clay off eBay, 200g for £12odd posted.

What is the correct way to use the fall out remover? As I understand you leave it to soak in for a few minutes then clay it off?

Think abrasive plastacene, I have never used the stuff and my cars not worth it at the moment

It gets washed every week and polished every month and that will do till the bodywork's sorted.

Yeah, it works really well, better than TFR which wont be coming anywhere near this one

Sonus Grey should work fine, I'd use Megs last touch with it, but it you dont have that, just use some car shampoo and water in a spray gun.

Ive done the bonnet, roof and bootlid so far, takes a while to move the bits that are really stuck but it works great TBH, leaves some light scratches behind but they polish out in seconds

Thank god I didnt have to resort to an acid wash

Yep, roof is now polished and sealed, no signs of any lumps of steel thank fook! Spent about 2 hours just on the roof

Just need to get some wax to finish it off, has anybody used this AutoGlym stuff? Ive used AG resin polish and sealant so thought it would be best to stick with their products

The HD wax is mighty, works well with a coat of resin polish
underneath, just make sure you keep the sponge applicator wet at all times, well worth that price, its £39.99 at halfords!
