Welding in EGT sensor to manifold?

Hi,

I need to weld in an EGT sensor bung to my BTB manifold (325i). Can this be done insitu or is there a danger of getting weld spatter into the head?

Has it got to be that close or could you do it nearer 3>2 collector? You might get burrs going in to the head when you drill through before you weld if the valves is open on that runner....

Is the BTB manifold not stainless steel?

You can do it in situ but not a good idea as it makes it difficult to get the angle to weld the bung all the way around. Is it just 1 egt sensor and where about you thinking of putting it?
