No chance on the log book mate, not that silly.
I know yours is quicker, down to the weight and diff difference.
Had a race with a 330 convertible on Sat afternoon all the way from b'ham to cov .
He wasn't going anywhere, and a bit shocked i think.
He was giving it the large when i saw him, bullying a ford focus, so had to join in, but at 135+ i was still in his mirror all the way LOL

im sure the switch needs to go in the 'bottom' rad hose,
have you got a plug on your rad for a switch? if so put it there,as soon as the rad feels hot water the fan will kick in
where on the engine block did Dave say?

I was weighing a E28 in at the weekend and had a few suprises.leeparkes wrote:Its been back on the bridge and the weight gain is far from good,
With the M20/b25 = 1242kg

Its gained 69kg![]()
1: said E28 was loaded up with scrap bits and despite lack of engine or diff, came in a 1520kg!!!!
2: my M30 beastie can tow a loaded E28 up a 1 in 10 gradient in 3rd
3: my car on the weighbridge is 1400kg!
for everyones reference, to get a comparison, it is a 325i touring with a M30, large case diff, E34 M30 gearbox (no weedy little M10 one here), electric stuff all round, no aircon, towball fitted, petrol just off the red, 10 litres of LPG, LPG system fitted with donut tank, spare wheel in the boot and about 10kg worth of tools, towbar and baby seats etc in it at the time. no amps or bass box or anything like that either
is mine the heaviest E30 in the world?

Im still baffled at how mine gained nearly 70kg,i literally pulled the m20 out then m30 in,im using m20 prop,m20 rad etc so really its just an engine and box swap.
an undressed m20 is 117kg,m30 is 143kg so just a 26kg difference, where does the extra 43kg come from???
all i can think of is the gearbox, inlet mani and maybe flywheel,oh and beefys mounts
Anyone know if the inlet mani is heavy,ie compared to the m20 one

the M30 alternator is mahoosive.
i know, it's a pair or large testicles that accompany the M30 swap. somehow fitted to the car without us noticing. they must weigh 10kg each
figures i guess...
