We knew one was a little out of shape and the others had minor flat spots, But we put the tyres on and tried them. I have a vibration at certain speeds that is beyond a balancing issue.
I took the two rears to Lepsons in Gillingham today (F*cking M25 was jammed too) to be told that one is repairable and the other is twisted so it is a large paper weight.
Really am p*ssed off with it all now, Tempted to just sell up and move onto something else.

I've had this trouble with a set of Hartges that were on a car i bought specificly for them. They were all fooked!
I also bought a set of genuine pinas not long after off of a zoner and two were scrap.
Keep with it mate.

Dave, stick with it, that kind of thing could have happened regardless of make or car/ general scene. Not nice when it does happen, but not worth chucking the towel in over.
What has the seller got to say?

the set of RD rims i had 2 had flat spots but......they where all straight.
Comes with the territory of bouying 20 year old rims, high chance of bent ones. I've had countless sets of 16 alpinas with bent ones in the set. Highly annoying

Hmm, Just found a company that claim they can repair it, and by looking at their website it looks like they have done far worse!
http://www.alloywheelrepairs.net/WheelRepair.html
I think I'll hold off of buying more wheels just yet, I'll email that company and see what they can do. Got to be worth spending £100+ to save a proper set of wheels I think?
Please tell me I'm doing the right thing? I have my card here ready to order some new ones

thing is all these alloy wheel companys claim to be able to repair flat spots, cracks, buckles. When really they repair f**k all and phone you up saying the rim is scrap.
I never understand why they advertise saying they can fix them! Lepsons "repaired" a slightly bent alpina 16x8 rim for me once after spit and polish charged me and didn't do it. Came back from lepsons the same but with a nicer finish on the paint. Gave up bothering then!
Dave if you buy the next set you'll have 8 and a high chance of 4-5 straight ones!

That's true enough Si, It's my biggest fear that I'll send it up to them for a call saying "No mate, Bin it" and I have just wasted another lump of cash sending it away!
I believe Ant may know of another set so I should just wait for him to get back from his hols. Other than that I think I'm going to struggle to find another set. Fudgesticks.

Colin is off back to Oz in a couple of weeks so unless he has disires on taking them back, you could be onto something there.

I know someone who has used them and he couldn't believe what they managed to repair (the mess of the damaged wheel to start with)d6dph wrote:Cheers Lee, Do you know anyone who has used them or is it internet recommendations?
I went to Lepsons as they have a good reputation, Shame the couldn't do anything about the wheel.

I think i remember Lee saying.. "I don't do working in the cold" being northern it's always cold so unless the welder is out there is no hope of it being done!Jhonno wrote:Jesus..E30BeemerLad wrote:Dave, get your short arse to Billing, I will be there in a jap turd as the e30 sure as hell won't be road legal by then

According to the chap i spoke to when i visited them, Lepsons are not geared up for repairing serious damage.
Probably worth trying someone else before you give up on them. Or try and find another 'good' set, then at least you'll have some spare 'stock' in case you clobber one beyond repair at a later date.
