Why my engine rattles until warm up properly?

Hi all forumers,

I just transplanted a 325i engine in to my E30 shell. From a cold start until the engine warms up properly, the engine idle is erratic and the whole car shakes. After 10 minutes drive all OK.

Is there any thing I can do to make it work smooth from the start like a new car

im not too sure about the cold to warm up issue. but when my car was vibrating alot i changed the engine mountings and that sort it out.

thanks .. I will check the moutings. did you change all or just one or two specific mountings?

While the engine is warming up it uses more fuel than normal so your spark plugs may not work too well in the rich mixture.

Is the throttle position switch working properly ?

Have you cleaned the idle control valve ?
