Hi all,
I need to change the oil in my auto gearbox on my 89' 325, as it's coming up to 30k since the last change. I have a pit in the garage so that should make life easier.
Is it an easy job, and which oil is best to use ?
Thanks lads !!

Use dextron II only and nothing else.
The oil itself is easy enough to change, but it is absolutely crucial to get the fluid level correct again afterwards. Roughly measure what comes out and replace with fresh, warm it all up then check after stopping by moving the lever through all positions, then stopping on 'P' or 'R' and check with the engine running. Obviously you will need someone in the car holding the brake.
Off topic, As well as my tourer I have an auto Citroën which in true french style can only use auto fluid available from the dealer. It needs 3 bottles to do a fluid change at Ԛ£15 a bottle. Christ knows what's in it but it wants to made from crushed Rhino's bollox for that money.

Don't you mean 'D' or 'R'?

i am not sure if you can still get dextron II anymore, dextron III is the stuff if you cant get any. is worth changing the oil filter in the gearbox while you are at it.
