as above can i fit the clocks from a 320 into a 318is can the rev counter be changed from 6 to 4 cyl the car i have came with no clocks so i bought a spares car the dash has 3 sockets on the back 1 blue 1 white and 1 yellow i found the blue and white plugs but what goes in the yellow 1.

Yellow socket is for OBC if you have one. Basic analogue or single-function digital clock in the car and the yellow isn't used.
The rev-counter will be fine if you swap the coding plug.
The fuel guage may mis-read, but it depends if both cars had the same size tank.

thanks Stuart car aint got a obc just a clock so no probs there where is the coding plug and what does it look like I take it i can get 1 from bmw as i havnt got the original dash to swap it over

On the bottom, between the rev-counter and temp. guage there's a little white plug-in box thing. See it?? It's got some numbers and letters on it. IIRC, there are 2 small clips hold it to the casing.
That's the coding plug. IIRC, the 4-cylinder one is a different colour.
aint done enything with the 318 yet Alex working on my 318 is at the moment bought a 320 yesterday for the doors boot lid and anything else i need so it is almost complete now and yes got quite a few now 3 and a half at work and my touring on road that is now sitting much lower and looking good
