Hi all
Was wondering how to go about helping my m20 the breath better. it's got a K&N on. It,s also running with an FSE boost valve & an Eprom chip. I would like to develop the air intake manifold but I do not know how or, if it's possible?

Cheers Dom :?

Mount the air filter as close as possible to the front grill so that loads of air can freely get to the filter.

Depends on how extreme you want to go. You could remove a headlight and turn that into an air vent for your filter.

You could rebore your throttle body so it lets more air in. Next step would be port polishing the inlet manifold, but your talking mega bucks now!

to make it breath better fit the standard airbox back on with a panel filter or a Genuine Bmw filter,

Ive always found genuine to be best :)

+1

If anything drill some 10mm holes in the airbox and install a pipe running from behinf the grill to the airbox.

Fast Ford done a test a few years ago on a RS Turbo, everytime they changed air filter they did a rolling road to see BHP and Torque figures.

In the end they found the stock airbox with stock filter was the best for most BHP & Torque across the rev range. All the other types of filters increased BHP & decreased Torque. After reading that article, I always stick with stock air box and sometimes stock panel filter, sometimes performance panel filter.

manufacturers spend thousands on making airboxes for that specific car

K&N have the same for every car
