Hi,

Here is my 1983 BMW 318i. My grand father actually bought this car back in 1983. I was born in 1989 so I have always known this car and always been in love with it. Back in 2002 when my grand father decided to buy a new car, he gave me his 318i. However I was only 12 years old, so before I get my driving license, I had several years to take care of it and do a few modifications such as adding original fog lamps and BMW alloy wheels. I got my driving license in 2007 so I was finally able to drive this car I am still loving a lot even after so many years. Since that time, I changed the whole interior (the driver's seat was in rather bad state but even if the rest was in an excellent state I had to change the whole interior since I was not able to find another driver's seat in mint condition). This interior comes from a 1983 323i. I also added a M-Tech 1 steering wheel and a 3,91 differential so the 5th gear is more easily usable and the accelerations are even better. It has 149000 kilometers and it is a an excellent state as a whole. Of course, like every 26 years old cars, there are some stripes but nothing too important. This car means a lot to me and I hope I will be able to keep taking care of it for so many years. I am waiting for your point of view. In France back in the 1980s, most cars had yellow headlights so that is the reason why mine has yellow ones. I think they suit perfectly the Burgundrot Metallic color. The registration plates used to be black until 1993. Then they were black at the front and yellow at the rear. But as of 2009, the registration system has changed, the combination of numbers and letters is now totally differents (AB-123-CD where it used to be like 1234 AB XX, XX standing for the code of the region where you live).
I really appreciate this forum and I am really glad to introduce my cars to all of you. I have been studying english for 12 years now but there might have a few mistakes in my message.
Hope to hear more from you here.

The A in the rear window stands from "Apprentissage". It is the equivalent of the English "L" plate ;) You have to put it on every car you drive for three years.

Nice ride mate. You'll see that driving such an amazing car is really nice except when it's raining, this car can turns out to be a death trap (I experienced it once back in September '08 )...

I plan to keep it the way it currently is. I think that the chromies look better stock. At least, that's the way I want to keep mine.

Thanks ;) E30s with yellow lights seem to be rather rare on this forum.

Beautiful car! and surely one of the earliest on the zone.

Engine sounds fantastic, so much quieter than your average M40.... M10 FTW :thumb:

I really do need to put a new cam in my dad's design cab. It sounds like the valves are being controlled by those monkey teddys that bang symbols together.

The M10 is really an awesome engine. Between 4000 and 5500 rpm, the sound is just fantastic. Plus, it is incredibely reliable.

Welcome to a fellow 83 chrome car. It looks very good and well cared for. I too run mine as standard except for a steering wheel and air horns. 8)

What part of France are you in as we shall be there in a few weeks time, heading for Riverennes.
