only 325is was made in south africa, it has a 2.7 and some aluminium panels. The US market may have aslo had an ''official'' 325is but not sure on this.
325 sport is a regular 325 with additional options added by the main dealer but normally fitted at the factory.

Yes, the South African 325is is a rare and expensive car, with only a few imported to the UK.
I gather Australia also had a 325is, similar to our Sports.

325i-Sport : 325 speced with all the better factory options by the main dealer
325iS Evo : 325 with 2.7 with 200bhp iirc also fitted with E30 M3 suspension with appropriate spring rates.
325iS EvoII : as above with 215bhp and all aluminum front panels.
325iS Evo : 325 with 2.7 with 200bhp iirc also fitted with E30 M3 suspension with appropriate spring rates.
325iS EvoII : as above with 215bhp and all aluminum front panels.
M42 rightness above 6500rpm, nobody can hear you scream
325i Sport had a spec set by BMW GB not by the main dealer.Dave_M3 wrote:325i-Sport : 325 speced with all the better factory options by the main dealer

I was only really talking about Sports in terms of the UK so didn't mean main dealer as in Munich, lol.

I assumed when you said main dealer, i thought you meant each dealer like "L&C Croydon" or "Vines Redhill" etc.Dave_M3 wrote:Pendantic sodbss325i wrote:325i Sport had a spec set by BMW GB not by the main dealer.Dave_M3 wrote:325i-Sport : 325 speced with all the better factory options by the main dealer

I'd love to have a 325iS Evo 2 some day.
That and a totally original Sport Evo tucked in a garage would be nice
There was an brilliant issue of BMW Car mag about 2 years ago that featured the red 325iS vs an Alpina that Andrew at WLN had.
If the 325iS hadn't been red I might have sold everything I had to buy it. Think it's probably the ultimate e30 for me.
Unfortunately I have got sensible in my old age and have stopped trying to get fishing gear into 2 dr coups and got a touring!
Never been to SA so might be worth a little trip one day..

You want a six cylinder E30?!
Yeah....
But what a car to make somebody turn to 6 pots
All jokes aside... if it wasn't for our stupidly high tax etc on big engines over here, I'd have a M52 engined E30 for a daily driver in the morning, a 6 pot is just so much more useable for pottering around and being a light engine, there's fookall difference in that "4 pot balance"
I've been to SA years ago but unfortunately it was before I discovered 325iS Evos. Must go back there some time in years to come again and track one down and try get it home

Hi I have a South African 325is evo2 beleived to be the only one in the country not seen it for a wee while as stood in the garage and not used over the winter. Looking forward to the better weather but up here in Orkney thats about July for a week.
Just a small correction. It was the 325iS evo 1 that had the alloy panels. The Evo 2 reverted back to steel panels but had the uprated engine. Same as the Alpina 2.7 but with bigger airflow meter, throttle body etc. Both cars had full M3 spec suspension with uprated springs. Both awesome cars but very very scarce even here in SA.
Amazing things. Bet even a minor front ender is bloody dear to put right on an evo 1!ian325is wrote:Just a small correction. It was the 325iS evo 1 that had the alloy panels.
