Just wandering if anyone else has run up against the problem of their rear subframe bushes seizing to the stud that runs through them? If so haw have you gotten around it?

i take it you have undone the nuts one each side??
and with a hammer punch the studs from underneath the car up into the passanger compartment. the studs should move with a light to moderate tap of a hammer. they are splined to the chassis so make sure they are correctly reinserted once you have done the job.
hope that helps!

One side the bush was totally buggered so the subframe dropped straight down, however the insert remains, the other side I have hit with a 2-3 lbs hammer fairly hard but to no avail, I'll keep trying that route. Anything else worth trying?

a 3/8 extension bar and a hammer should get the bolt knocked back up inside the car, remove the rear seat base to see the hole/channel they go in.

You may be left with the inner part of the bush still attached to the car after you the get the subframe off. Again an extension bar inside the sleeve from underneath and some wiggling and light taps side to side with the hammer. If you are unlucky enough that some of the sleeve breaks off and remains in the recess on the chassis, then it's time for a cold chisel and some HSS drill bits to get the remains out.

Not a lot of fun on axle stands as there's barely enough room to give it the good news with a hammer

Cheers guys, not easy to get too much purchase when under axle stands, I shall persevere!

D'oh been levering on the wrong bit, silly bugger lol

one side required a little leverage and the other, I knocked the stub out and wriggled the detatched centre off..

Sometimes it pays to take a step back!

I had the very same problem when i tried to remove mine, mine were seized obviously due to rust, WD40 didnt help, i just whacked ten bells from underneath then from inside the car whacked the bolt back down again, then returned to underneath and whacked it back up again, 5 or 6 goes at this should sort it, well it did mine anyway...................
