Smithy, if you are going to tow it, I have a rigid tow bar you could borrow if you want, just a bit better than the rope method. If the engine runs (abeit badily) I would drive it if I was you, in convoy with lots of water and oil.

And yeah where did that quote come from?

Honestly mate if it was me I'd just drive it without worrying. As long as it is not totally fecked and the brakes an stuff work. Just take some bulbs with you and check them before you set off. And stick to the speed limit. frankly it'll be far safer driving an untaxed insured and motd car than towing it all that way.

 Find some little Geordie chav with out a licance around the metro centre and slip him Ԛ£20 to do it, then if they do catch him they can't take it away!!!!

Only you can drive it third party on your own insurance if that's included on your policy, but make sure you've "booked an MOT" with your friendly mechanic to drive it to or the Police will fuck you over for driving without MOT/tax.

I don't think you need insurance to be in a car that is on a rigid bar, it behaves as a trailer under those conditions. If the engine runs on the towed car do so to give you brake assistance, can be handy if the towed car can brake too under emergency conditions.

Driving down with Andrew, He drives mine back(red), I drive mine back(grey)
His piss poor Astra has a cracked head/oil leak. so were takin' mine. If the new one fuks up on the motorway, my rigid pole arrives on friday, so we can use that.
Local friendly MOT station has me booked (if PC prick inquires) and ill sort out the insurance for one day cover. (done it before, don't see why i cant again)

Nice one. You are going to split it right? If you don't need them can I get the rear ash tray (my scrappy is constantly out of them) and the floor mats (if they are ok and grey) off you? Cheers mate. It's not urgent so I don@t really care if you want them :thumb:

Dunno yet. I may sell the red one. Depends on what condition the grey one is in. Take off all the good bits from Red (like the headlights/IS lip/chip etc.) and flog it.
I honestly couldn't tell ya until i pick it up! But they did say it had been maintained and serviced by them.

If you had asked last week (or even a few hours ago) you could have had an ashtray off me. But all 3 are sold now.

Oh right, you recon the new one will be better or are you sick of the red. You know changing the interior is pi55 easy and only about 10 bolts.

ive towed a few cars with them ridgid bars
there great
and the bm has two eyes one each side ,brill

but them bars can break
jamie325isport told me
i did it any way
3 cars later it was fine
then i was towed by a mate in a van and he braked hard and snapped the bar
lucky i was on the hand brake and pedel or i would of hit him
so dont brake hard with them as they still say the other driver has to brake too
but on motor way they are amazing

u can drive the car back as long as you tell the insurance company your taking it to a mot station (be it 200 miles away)
and then ull be insured ! as how else you going to get a car to a mot station , u wont need tax and ull have insurance

Okay guys, I have been and collected it. And unfortunatly, its a bag of shyte.
It will never pass an MOT test, so im going to break it for spares.

I was hoping that i could take it for an MOT test and get it on the road, but it looks as though that aint gona happen.

As it is untaxed. Im currently looking for places to store it before i get nabbed for an untaxed car.

almost all parts should be available soon.
