hi all, im askin this q for my bruv, he has a 325i cabs with the m50 engine conversion, he went and brought some sparkplugs the other day when we popped the bonnet we cant see where they are can any1 help, thanks, ps sorry if this sounds like a daft q.

EDIT: just relised its an m50, then i think there like the m42 under the cover on the top of the engine

Engine conversions, Auto to manual conversions, parts, servicing etc etc... For anything e30 call 07718 901737

yet again i didnt read it properly and just read where are the spark blugs on a 325i cab :mad:

we had the covers off and theres no sign of them, we cant even find the dizzy cap.

The spark plugs are located underneath each individual coil pack, see where the wires are going to on this pic? Do one at a time and make sure you put the earth brackets back in the same place

each of those square things are a coil, usually 2 10mm nuts holding them on, they then pop up a bit and you pull them upwards to reveal the spark plug, disconnect the lead to them by lifting the silver clamp on each one where the wires go in

This is what it looks like with coils & wirimg loom removed

Maybe the job would be better left to someone who knows more about engines :)

my bruv used to be a mechanic but never worked on m50s, he shouldnt av any probs, it was just locating them, thanks for the info

I have never been a mechanic and have never worked on one of these engine before but even i would be able to find the plugs!!

he used to work for a place called kingfisher customs that only workt on vw's, i dnt know if vw made any engines like that. thats like saying he should av known there was no distributor, like spadge said the answer is easy if u knw it, mash i didnt see u write any thin until evry 1 else explaind and sent pics :banana:

purley because i hadnt seen the thread! granted not everyone knows everything, i just found it odd a mechanic didnt know where spark plugs were, no need to take offence :D

When you don't type out full words you are getting into text speak and this forum has a filter set up that blocks people writing bollocks. It is rather irritating when people write in txt on a forum.

For the others, yes it is annoying when people use text speak, but calm down. Same goes for the criticisms of his question. We all have to learn somewhere.

tbh im 18 and never worked on anything else other than a golf and my polo and i reckon i could find the plugs on an m50 block! and i never used to be a mechanic!
