right.. its time for me to give her the treatment...
here is my method..

wash with autoglym shampoo and dry with chamois..

t-cut her and polish off ( applying with microfibre cloths )

apply autoglym high definition wax 2x and buff using microfibre cloths..
go over all the glass with spray and shine inc wheels..

hoover interior and armorall dash and all plastic.. using leather wipes on the half leather..

im not really into valeting but i do like washing my cars..
what do you guys think??

sounds a plan. I just bought a load of new authglym stuff for the bumper n trim care and wheels. Ill treat her once she passes her mot

sounds good, i would wash and dry with mircofibre over chamois though, chamois does have a habit of trapping tiny grit particles that can be pulled over your paint. Always rinse out in a clean bucket of course!

Timbob. I did hate cleaning and doing things like detailing and such like... BUT

I bought a cheap clay bar off da 'bay and its brilliant. My paint was all fairly rough to touch having never had a proper polish in its life I suspect. The clay bar returned the paint to a GLASS like finish. It really is very, very smooth. I was a big pessimist before trying them, wondering how such a product could actually work. I am a changed man now.

The benefits are far reaching, beyond removing hard to remove contaminents such as tar, it makes waxing the car afterwards a peice of pi$$.

Claybarring gives you something decent to work with and actually makes cleaning a car half fun I even went ultra gay and cleaned the engine bay, but then it does have a proper engine to show off. Imagine the shame of detailing a 4 pot engine

So I'd wash it in something that doesn't contain wax

Perhaps polish it? I skipped this stage
Wax it, to seal it all in.

4 hours work, but subsequent cleaning and waxing is made easy.

I'm going to have to try a claybar one of these days. The E30 really doesn't need it, but I feel I should know what I'm missing!

Try one Jon, they really are good. I think it was around £12 delivered for a Meguier one. Small clay, but easily did my filthy estate. I imagine the results would be phonomenal on red compared to silver.

I'll stick with the 12 valves and the righteous capacity, rather than some weedy multi-valve thing, thanks very much.

But the car with the weedy 24v engine would probably benefit from claying...! Been at it with the 476s & it does come up nicely.

i did what i said i would above except for the interior.. which i did three weeks ago... it took me 5 hours and i was @ucked! i cut the paint back and it has really bought the colour out especially on the rear valance and boot spoiler... i gave the boot spoiler 3 coats of high definition autoglym wax... the roof got 2 goes and the rest of the car 1.
im impressed with the wax and using the microfibre cloths has made a difference(iv got about 10 now!)
im going to wax it once every 2 weeks to build up the protection for winter... next thing on the agenda is to waxoil the underneith.... oh the fun!
i have heard about the clay bar and i will give it a go!
