to my knowledge only three types of lights on BMW's
1. early reflector and bulb style on most models up to around 88-90. this is what these could be. People complain they do not give enought light and are not as good as
2. Projector driving light, using a halogen bulb focused and directed by a big magnifying glass, main beam is same as 1. using a bilb and reflector
3. for the US market they installed General electric sealed beam type, which are a sealed unit working on the same prinicipal as item 1.
items 1 and 2 came as both Hella and Bosch depending on nothing in particular and itme 2 had the smiley driving lights and non-smiley, the only difference being the surrounding trim of the magnifying glass around the projector unit.
your sig seem to be a face lift so you should have item 2 ie.e projector style, keep em. if you want something different check my tech article out on how to build DIY smoked.

sorry mate your sig pic is not a face lift at all, it is early morning where i am! M3 lights vary the same as above, i cant quite make out but yours appear to be the early (type 1) style, it is quite easy to convert them to the newer projector lights, you can even buy the adaptor plugs for the loom from BM dealers, you just need to find a set of lights but any scrap yard should be able to sort that out, if lenses are broken its no problem to change (again see my tech article on how to)
i reckon the lights for sale are the same as what you have.

I am sure you could get down to a scrap yard and find a projector set for not too much, then just clean em up, and if need be chenge the glass lens, cannot belive it will cost you 200 squids even in rip off Britain!!

On the subject of headlamps, can you manual adjust those headlamps with the hydraulic raise lower control because the hydraulics are always fucked and never work. I could not figure how to remove all the gubbins other than cut it away I suppose as I think the mount that sits over the adjustment screw is riveted to the headlamp.

Yeah.. They get a bit stiff after 15-20 years without use.
