bmw alpina b3
Moderator: martauto
on daily browsing i saw this:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/919956.htm
The bit that interested me the most is
"and also the bmw chassis no crossed out and the proper alpina no underneath as it should be."
can anyone confirm this is correct?
just seems unprofessional to me

All 'proper' Alpinas, as distinct from sytner kit cars , have a specific Alpina vin . The vin is usually stamped on the o/s strut top and as a result of being done after the car is painted, they can often look rusty and dodgy. The original BMW is crossed out and a new alpina vin plate fitted.
Thet double vin is correct for this model and the wheels are awesome, hollow spokw with a hidden tyre valve.
The ALPINA vin is stanped on the strut tower,, but oem BMW vincode is on the firewall or under the window ,, or like in USE under the glass

I saw one of these today in black, stunning cars.
It was outside the electrical specialist mine was in having the nasty old immoboliser removed. All the Alpina goodies and even Sytner number plates. Was looking a little tired though, i asked the garage owner and he said it was a customers.
Very quick car.

like it did when i saw it lol, scootlife wrote:what a great idea. You can identify the base model from that also. Trouble is to anyone that doesnt know, it could really put you off the car if you saw that !!!
It depends on which alpina we are talking about.DaveM42 wrote:Slightly off topic, but am I right in thinking that Alpinas will only have Alpina and not BMW written in the log book V5.
ALL of the sytner converted RHD cars like the E28's, E30's some E34's and E36 B2.5's kept their base car id on the V5.
