Niceeeee  It sounds like a monster

Btw how will you make your exhaust? Twin pipe with x pipe and one silencer or what?

Got the exhaust back today from welder but had no time to install it. Also some minor electrical problems have appeared suddenly but nothing too big.

Exhaust is 2x2,5" --> x-pipe --> 2,5" => 2" near rear beam --> silencer --> exhaust tips.

mine's running 2x 2 1/4 through an H pipe just under the gearbox to twin singles into 1 backbox and that's verging on loud!

Yep, only one silencer.

My friend's E30 V8 is running on one silencer also and it sounds really good, not too loud. Though, the silencer is custom made..

But we'll see, first i've to sort out this electronic bug (my ECU doesn't turn power off when you turn ignition off)..

Only just seen this thread - and i'm green with envy! Incredible work...hearing that noise for the first time must've been very rewarding. Awesome.

is your ecu going to live under the dash or in a box i engine bay like the 540?

whats the stuff in the battery tray? abs?

anyway i digress, which fuel pump are you using?

looking very good by the way,
I am planning to run my car without servo. I have changed the pedal ratio to increase force. So far it feels ok with not too much pedal travel. but I haven't driven the car yet.

depends on the ratio. I've got a 5.5:1 pedal box, so it should be better. PLUS, I'll be runnign 4 pots, so it will be fine!

i've now chopped a lot of my battery box away and a hole in the bulkhead, so i'll have to put the master there now :) , e30 was tad large and didnt like the fit so i've got a golf mk1 one coming and my mate has a ford ka servo which i'll try this weekend

what radiator you using jonsku? the e30.de site appears to say the e34 v8 radiator fits but offered mine up and its far too wide. how much did your custom one cost oze? its either a trip to scrappy with a tape measure or a call to allisport

also oze do you have an electrical connection diagram for the engine plug pins, i've got 3 now and none agree with each other fully :D , tried in vain to find a pin out for e34 engine plug

Is yours a manual or auto rad? Perhaps that is the difference in size?

I have a manual e39 rad I could measure, but that might be bigger than an e34 manual rad??

its the manual rad i have, no harm in measuring yours if its not too difficult, its width was the problem height and depth seemed all good

The widest plastic part is around 760mm

The 'metal' of the rad is 675mm in diameter.

The end tanks seem to be bigger at the top, but as the rad is on the car, I can't really measure lower down...

HTH.

Right. It's going to cost roughly 200-250 to get the rad made up.

E36 Big 6 aircon rads will fit, plus i think you can use the header tank on the rad. E34 non V8 air con rad SHOULD fit, but the V8 rad is way too wide. I don't know if you will be able to fit the servo where the battery tray is. You might be able to fit the E36 pedal box, I'll give this a go sometime next week when I can get to my scrapper. If it fits, I'll be hugely happy as it means you can still get the servo assist!

I'm using E28 535 radiator, which fits straight on without any modifications. That's the one germans use so it should be enough.
Friend of mine has E34 V8 radiator but he needed to modify the E30 body a bit to make it fit.

Here's folder where you can find my C101_X20 schematics. ;)

Alright, solved the electrical problem with help from a friend :)
Tried the exhaust on but i've to modify it a bit, also still don't have brake discs and intake tube is not finished. But otherwise this cabrio is almost ready :P

All kind of little bits and parts are bolting to the car every day so it starts to be quite close to "ready".
Interior is almost all in, engine bay starts to be ready etc etc.

Next weekend i'll get few parts from TIG-welder and couple of mufflers to my new exhaust system so i'm hoping i get coolant in the engine on saturday - sunday so i can keep her running for a while :)

Brake discs are on order and should arrive next week, so test drive could be in only two weeks.. Yikes! :D
oze30 wrote:Just wondering, does the bonnet close with the brake servo so high up?
Test-fitted the bonnet once again yesterday and there were no problems with it :)
Coolant reservoin is really, really close, though.

I can't wait to see this thing finished. The car was already awesome to start with, the V8's just adding to the package.

Thanks guys :)

Got the engine bay ready except all the panels (probably gonna bolt them on after this post :)). Interior is in except seats.

Tomorrow i hope i get exhaust done and coolant in the engine. On next thursday i might be driving this thing.

Anyways, those pipes don't suit very well the OEM-look i'm going after :( Well, now i've something to do next winter also :D

Thanks!

Something good and bad has happened..

Good thing is i got the brakes last week and finally had some time to test them. And damn they look good :)

Image

The engine bay looked good also but i had to take the engine out once again because left exhaust manifold leaked :x :x
Image

So right now the engine is sitting on the floor and i'm wondering how i can fix the exhaust manifold once and for all..
