I have a set of alpinas currently in process of being refurbed 7j fronts and 8j rears, once all nicely painted i was wondering what would be better stretch the tyres on or leave it standard look.

What is the standard tyre size also what have people been putting on theirs?

The correct size for Alpina alloys 16x7 front and 16x8 rear is 205/50R16 front and 225/45R16 rear.

Everything else looks wrong ie 45's on the front and 40's on the rear!

Keep them origional on the Alpinas. If they were aftermarket, then you could stretch them, but i actually think that it's very unsafe to stretch tyres. 8)

Why if they are aftermarket?

How so is it unsafe to have a small stretch on tyres? My fronts are a 215/40 on an 8"rim, which gives a slight tug..

My opinion is Alpinas should look oem with tyres on.

safe enough, but i have seen some that look like they would fall off the rim.

i think the stretched look could seriously damage rims.

Only if you kerb them..

I am not a fan of the massive stretch look, however 215/40 looks great on an 8" rim

With an nice set of refurbed Alpinas I'd want tyres with rim protectors :)
