This is the other one, Federal:

you appear to have a large offset on the backsuchy wrote:I run 225/45/16's on 9j rears on standard mtec springs/dampers and can't take passengers in the rear (quote??) as they rub my rolled arches. Not stretched too much but enough to look ok without the risk of a blow-out and I get a decent contact patch. Grazing a kerb is a c**t though

I have indeed. I've got 215/40's on 9's all round on my IS and on the rear of my touring. I've done 15k miles in my IS with the stretched tyres without any problems and it doesn't get an easy life either.ImysE30 wrote:Have you got stretched tyres on yours Dan?

Is 215 a better size?
Dan325iSport wrote:With a 9" rim you can safely run a 215/40 or 205/40 and the tyre wont pop off the rim. This amount of stretch is nothing in comparison to what the VW boys are up to - 195/45 on a 9" (which is silly!)
