Had to get rid of the E34 525iX touring...It had developed a low oil pressure warning and I got tired of the dismal fuel consumption and the lack of real performance...

Swapped it for an E36 328i SE 4dr saloon in Montreal Blue Metallic with white sports leather, no traction control and no aircon, but with sunroof...Just the right spec for me!

All standard at the moment, although I plan to swap out the inlet manifold and TB for a M50 2.5 version...
It needs a bit of paint on the bonnet and one wing and I have to solve the intermittent no starting issue...

I want your interior!

My mrs's daily is a montreal blue 323i saloon but it has silver cloth sport seats.

I'm slowly speccing it up, it had factory fitted M3 side skirts and steering wheel and i've added 17" M3 "sun flower" alloys, M tech springs and an M3 front bumper yet to be fitted.

They make good dailys!

Very nice that and good spec :thumb:
Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.

Currently in a diesel Audi - miss me old E30's....

Well, still got my E30 M3...

True, I sold the E30 325 4dr and the 320 Touring but I also sold the E34...

I just need a daily drive that does more than 21mpg and isn't the size of a small bus (the E34 Touring was both those)...

The E36 328 is fast, reliable, comfortable, cheap and does 28-30mpg...

I think more and more people will start turning to newer BMWs especially since they have become so cheap in comparison to a good e30. This applys mainly to daily cars. There is something refreshing about driving a car without rust issues, a thirsty and needing(repair) m20 engine. The benefits of cruise, air con and airbags are also a positive for some.

Would I go back to a daily e30?

For me it is a No, as nice as mine was to drive, you had to be on the edge of your seat when you drove it in the wet. It didn't have air con, it didn't have traction control, it didn't have ABS etc. If you do mega mileage in one, even the very good sport seats become uncomfortable. I have the 205 if I want to be obtuse/offensive/uncomfortable and want to get somewhere quick!

Newer BMW's you could waft around and do mega mileage with more creature comforts for less money. If the 530D was reliable, I think that is the car to buy.

The one that will tempt me back in later life is an e30 m3 for the weekends I think. 8)

I would have gone back to an E30 daily...I kinda regret selling my 325i 4dr last year...It wasn't perfect, body wise, and would have needed a lot more TLC than I was prepared to give it, but it was a great, reliable daily...

The E34 iX Touring was cheap and in better condition in the body than my old 325...but it was too big for me...handled like a big and not particularly fast car (cos it is) and being an iX all the parts were expensive in comparison to other E34s...

The E36 328 is, to me, the spiritual successor to my E30 325i...It is fast, handles well and is well spec'd...

I have my E30 M3 for special occasions and the odd blast around a track and I'm happy...

Oook your forgiven then :)

I kinda agree with you guys, I drive a original mini mayfair as a daily so when I get into the e30 it really is a luxury.

I suppose if it werent for the minis economy and practical size I would upgrade to a newer bmw aswell. Quite fancy the e46
