hiya new to the forum ive searched a fair bit and cant seem to get my head round it what will i need to convert my 1989 316 carb model into something like a 2.0 or 2.5 mechanical work not to much of a problem however not to hot on electrics also what engine people suggest on as lower budget as possible

Best way IMO is to buy a 'Donor 325' car, You can then use all the engine parts as well as upgrading your suspension at the same time by using the suspension from the donor car.
Look out for a MOT failure or a rusty one that you can break to get back some money

cheers for info what 325i would i go for e36 or somthing else also how complicated is the wiring

E30 2.5 is alot easier and less expensive than an E36/E34 2.5

You could probably pick one up for around £300, keep an eye out on eBay, Pistonheads and on here

Depending on the condition of the engine parts, you shouldn't need any other parts
