surely the torque converter is a replacement for the standard clutch / flywheel and reverse is taken care of by an extra gearset intside the box :?

i.e a manual car doesnt have a seperate clutch for reverse, so an auto won't have a seperate torque converter for it.
cheers,

Hmmm.. is see what your saying.. only wondered as this morning, i put my e46 into reverse and gave a bit of throttle, i heard a clunk and then the engine just revved freely ! Going forward is fine, but when in reverse, it just moves slowly and the throttle has no effect apart from revving the engine

get a diagnostic done ASAP Erel !!!!

either the EGS is FUBAR or the reverse gear brake bands have gone

or, its a minor electrical glitch with the solenoid pack in the g/box

Either way, urgent attention required sir !
