Had a very busy weekend and I'm Knackered!!!!

Started off earlier this week, decided to advertise both the MX5 AND the e36 convertible thinking, "whichever sells first, I'll keep the other".

Problem was, I took calls on both. The MX was a sure fire and the guy on the e36 stated (after looking at the photos), I'll bring cash and if it's any good I'll take it there and then".

I knew then he'd be driving it home so Friday night I bit the bullet and drove to Dunstable to look at the car below. Yes, I got stuck in the closed M25 fiasco and it took me 3.5 hours to get from work in Slough to Dunstable! A f*cking nightmare. I kinda liked what I saw but as they were closed when I got there I couldn't drive it. :x :x

Yesterday I got up, Cleaned both the MX and the e36 and promplysold them both with both buyers taking them there and then and Weighing in with cash :D :D winkeye . There can't be many e36's still selling for £5100

This left me with a predicament. Only the company hack astra for both myself and the wife to use and me working away all week!

So today, courtesy of a mate, we drove back up to Dunstable and bought this. It's a 2000 530i mSport auto. Drove it home and I have to say, it's spot on. Apologies for the photos, crappy off the phone. It needs a damn good clean, a bit of paint and a couple of rear tyres (255/40's  ) but it's very tight, has a superb history and is a 1 owner car. 93k up, all BMW stamps in the book with 3 green still lit. Even has the full OBC and the glass roof. I'm Lovin' it! Has the Alacantara trim not leather (which I thought I'd be upset about but actually, it's a very nice place to be) and unfortunately, the wood not the aluminium which I may have to change.

Looks a nice example, really loved my E39,my father in law had the 528i sport in silver, very nice car.
On the subject of wood strips, you can buy the inserts but i believe they are ££££'s,i have read you can paint them though?

Glass roof is a nice option, steptronic is great, you will wonder how you ever lived without it!

Enjoy :D

Lovely E39. Alacantara is really nice and a glass sunroof is a rare bonus.

This is my 2nd e39, Had a 2000 W 523i steptronic (with the glass roof as well) a few years back that I sold for the company car :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

That had the factory sport kit available before the factory MSport (with the M5 bumpers etc.)was produced. Always felt though with a mere 170hp and the lack of torque it was a bit of a road block. I loved the steptronic box though and sware that if I ever bought another 39, it would be suitably adorned with said box.

This being the 530, it's a different ball game. It's fairly quick to be honest :D :D

Yeah I saw that but it's been f*ck over with the car kit. Zoom in and it's full of holes. + it's not the vbrushed ali but the titanium grey (like I had in my 523)

Trevski, you bringing it to Guilford on Wednesday? We can have our own little e39 section!

I am fairly jealous as yours is the facelift one, which looks a lot more sporty, alas mine is a touring so it is never going to be that sporty!

Artic silver?

The trader did have several pieces of french scrap that luckily, were parked far enough away from the e39 that I could inspect the car safely with the fear of any rashes appearing. They were also far enough away that i doubt it's caught any french electrical diseases either.

Joking aside! I do have a fondness for this shape,a chap at work had for a brief time a 535i with all M spec wheels, leather etc, beautiful car.
This was about 3 years ago,he bought and sold it for circa 20k,seems the prices have dropped hugely now.
Incidently another chap at work has a B10 'Pina Touring

It's wood I hate. Not so worried about the leather as the alacantara is still a bit special. I thought I would be worried but I actually like it. The wood however is just so ROVER!!!!!

Lovely looking car that, looks like you were in the right place at the right time with that one.........................................

Ahh wood/rover, perhaps you should sell it now, looking at the prices on autotrader you could get one Rover 75 for each day of the week :teehee: :teehee:

You know what? I'm f*ckin lovin this car! Probably the best car I ever had (and believe me , I had a few). I am thinking on privacies for the rears though :o:

I haven't even had a chance to clean it properly yet which is starting to annoy me a bit  .

As It wasn't taxed and I was in Brum most of the week I had to borrow my mates '97 170k 523iSE. The things filthy so I promised him in exchange for the loan of it, It'd valet it. Which has taken the time away from the 530 (AND time away for me and si to tear the convertibles lump out!)

Yuk wood! Are we in the 1930s?

Just shows that the original target market for these cars were accepting of such tasteless additions.

How about bespoke leather coverings over the wood trim?

I always thought that aluminium is a bit like a kitchen.

Got a chance to start the cleaning today. Apologies for the shots as it was getting dark. I'll do some nice ones when I'm finished.

heres the Alcantara trim. Needs more cleaning but for 90k it's very good.

Tailpipe has some deterioration but it's cleaned up well enough

and I got a chance to deep cleanse the bootlid, rear bumper and offside rear quarter and rear door. It's coming up a treat. Not sure whether to go for a single M badge on the bootlid (which a lot of sports had, or I have just aquired a 530i script as an alternative. Not sure which way to go yet.

Hate the debadge look. Could be mistaken for a 525 or someone trying to kid people it's a 540. I think it's going to get the 530 script to be honest. I have the template so it'll go in the right place. so many have the badges in the wrong position. Hate following one like that.

I do like the simple single late convex M badge though :o:

As above :)

Looks good, I have not seen one with Alacantara before. I bet its nice, and doesn't get the hot sweatyness of leather in the sun.

I've started the cleaning now and it's starting to look really nice. Taken some better shots of it now as well. Also badged it up as it should be. Decided on the 530i script over the M badge as the M badge I ordered came and it's a gunmetal one  .
