Dark marks

Sometime in the past, I think my car has been stood outside/not looked after too much and there are dark/black marks in the corners of the paintwork,like where the spoiler meets the boot lid.
Of course it has to be a white car and these marks let it down but Im having some bother removing them.
Ive tried T-cut ,polish and even Acetone to no avail and could do with some advice on how to remove these marks so any comments are welcome.

A tooth brush with some BARKEEPERS FRIEND may get rid of that,it is like a paste and shouldnt damage the paint,cleans all manner of things,my wife swears by it!

+1 on the wax, how long did that take you?, oh and yeah what a difference it made too

i took my spoiler off and washed the area in question with some old 1200 wet and dry thn polished it and the spoiler before putting it all back together.

It took only about one hour , I say one hour and with some decent music as well, but really hurt me .

Today , I sat on a chair and spent along time sorting out the badge area and the 316 decal and it still hurt.lol

I also , mainly (lol) sat down , and sorted out the areas around the boot seals which look good now.

All are waxed guys !!!!!

There you are Nick, but to tell the truth, I left mine on and just used the toothbrush and T-cut.

Not too bad for 23 year old paint.


When I feel if I can do more, then the whole car will be done (Mrs permitting of course) over the Spring time, but I do need to know how to keep the white so white.
ie, do I wax or do I seal ??

Im on a budget as I will not be working for a few months yet (Im not skint but need to be careful) and I want it to last until next year without too much effort in the "Grim " months

What do you think guys ???

Get some bmw cleaning gear, very very good for the money

i used bmw polish followed by some bmw wax, bmw glass cleaner on the windows, bmw plastic emulsion on the plastics and i have got a fab finish

best cleaning gear i have used and they are not too badly priced either

i also claybar the car every couple of months to make it as smooth as a babys bottom


the plastic stuff i also use on my dash and it brings it out like new and deep glossy black but with no sticky ness, no blotchy areas.

i honstly cannot belive how good the stuff is, the glass cleaner is amazing too, you will be supprised at how black your cloths go

i found that tcutting the windows then washing then buffing does wonders
Cos the tcut have abrasive in it , it takes all the road film off and also good for dull window rubbers
