My son has an E-34 525 , 1998
Both lens`s on the driving lamps are cracked (common ?) and whilst we are replacing them, we are going down the HID line as in my E-30.
Has anyone come across BOTH lens`s cracked at the same time ALSO how easy is it to change to HID`s compared to the E-30.
I can source the HID`s , but I really need to buy two drivers lamp units for the "boy" as his wife is about 6 weeks away from having their first kiddie.
This would be a nice weight off his mind guys.
ANY advice is most welcome and "I " will be paying for this.
Thanks alot ,
Mart.

On the E-30 Stuart, I had to open up the rear of the bulbholder to take the grommet of the new bulb.I was just wondering if I had to do the same or not.Either way its not a problem.StuBeeDoo wrote:Mart mate, I've never seen E34 lamps, but I assume they're pretty much the same as E30 ones - other than the brackets we've already discussed - so the conversion to HID shouldn't be any more difficult than on your car.
When you say brackets Stuart ,Im not sure where you are talking about mate.

I put HID's in mine & found it very easy,
I'm fairly sure they're exactly the same as E30 units,
I know I'll be putting them in my E30 when it's finished,

Did you have to open up the rear of the bulb holder to take the large grommet ? and yes they do look so much like the E-30 lamps.Alpina99 wrote:I put HID's in mine & found it very easy,

Exactly the same method as for the E30 - I took mine out of the E30 & put them straight into the E34 with the same bulb holders. Worth noting that bosch bulb holders work on hella lights but not vice versa!
Just as a side note - although the bulb fittings are the same, the mounting points for the lights are not - so you can't use E30 lights on an E34.
