hi guys

anyone know much about these ?

Just picked up my e28, test drove, drove onto trailer. locked it.

Drove home, alarm starting going off. Spoke to previous owner who swears blindly it don't have an alarm.

Now won't start either and i've cut the supply to the horn to calm the neighbours down but its stuck un moving

any ideas ???

You're just going to have to pull all of the alarm / immobiliser out Jai. Sorry to state the obvious, but in the absence of a fob / key there's no other way.

guessed as much. The guy i got it from didn't even know it had an alarm. The only thing i think is that i set it off going over bumps on the trailer ? Some sort of movement switch on the alarm ? E28 manual needed and i shall get to work with the snips ! Lets just hope i get it sorted by tuesday - MOT and all ...

having a browse round online the alarm key you mentioned leon was on UK/Europe cars only and may be as simple as a magnet apparently.

After removing the bulk of the underdash trim i managed to find the box where i could find a reley click coming from.

Found the two wires that seemed to go near the ignition, bridged them and hey presto i have a running car. Think i'll pull the rest of the alarm out tho for safteys sake.

Sadly however when i went to try and insure my new toy today, it seems that there is a MASSIVE difference between having a 318 and a 518 :( like twice as much price difference.

So im sure you'll all be glad to know that it looks like i may be keeping the E30 after all XD

Anyone wanna buy an E28 ?

Why don't you just delete your repeated posts and use a spell checker while your at it !

Because it posts them separatley. That would mean rechecking posts over and over again on the off chance it's rubble posted. You can only daleat the last post so there is nothing I can do if I miss it. As for spellcheck I do try but if the spell check has no surjestions then I must go with wot I got. Dose it upset you? Can you simpley not read my posts? Try phanetics.

BTW - wonder why the 518 insurance is double the 3 :?

According to insurance companys its becuase the E28 is not considered a classic by some insurance companys that consider the E30 to be, Therefore they are charging me for the luxery and the fact they rate it as a group 36 on the new 1 to 50 ratings.

Either way car now has an MOT and will be on ebay shortly.

As for the E30 its fate remains in the hands of seeing if i get the points thru from that forward facing speed camera at the weekend ...

I went and looked at another e28 535 with goodies tonight with one of my mates .
Nicely tucked up in a local garage to do with the executor to the will ??
Wasted journey really as still prefer a e30 but thought about having it to sell on but there not making good money at the moment .
They just feel big and overweight :?
Had my old e28 on classic insurance , Havent cancelled it yet and sold the car 3 months ago but got free rac with it and would cost me more just to take out rac cover :D

lol sadly being only 24 i can't get some classic polices as they are 25 plus :(

the E28 is huge and almost barge like but even with the little 1.8 still a joy to drive and bag loads of comfort for the journeys !

Just found an E21 hidden in my uncles so thinking that is on the 'must get' list now !
