cleaning mould off cabby roof

just bought a cab, has mould on the roof, any ideas how to get it off?

no the fabric is quite solid, havent tried anything yet!

I'd say very good - the down side being that as it's quite acidic it may have caused parts of your roof to fade

Sounds like a scrubbing brush job.

I'd try some mild detergent and a scrubbing brush on a discreet patch and see how you get on.

give it a good scrub and then go over it with a jet wash.....a bit brutal but it works and does no harm

personally i wouldnt use a jet wash on a cab roof, i would give it a good scrub with the cleaner in the Autoglym kit using a soft nail brush, wilko's do one for about 50p

then rinse with a hose, make sure all of the cleaner is rinsed out, then use the protector.

warm soapy water and a brush as suggested above... dont use jet wash... once finnished scrubbing, wash off with a hose.. that how i do mine

I've got to do mine as well, got mouldy bits around the bottom edges of the roof, car is parked near a tree so that doesn't help

Ive used Autoglym fabric roof cleaner on a few hoods and its great. I wouldnt use soap at all or anything else other that water and a soft brush or a specific canvas or fabric roof cleaner.

If you use soap or any detergents you may have a foaming roof every time it rains !!!

Takes a time to do it well, but it will be worth it.

don't use a jet wash on it what ever you do. personally i'd get the 303 fabric roof cleaner and protector available from www.polishedbliss.co.uk etc. then spray on the cleaner and using a slide lock detailing brush (if you have one, if not a natural hair paintbrush that's been cut down so that the bristles are about an inch long) work the cleaner in. rinse off with running water from a hose or watering can with no spray bit on the end. repeat as needed. it's not really a good idea to scrub the convertible hood with a nail brush as this can feck up the material. once fully dry apply the protectant.
