Morning all,
I’m new around here, but need a bit of advice if anyone’s got a moment please!
A buddy and myself are running an E30 318is in VLN at the Nurburgring this year. The regs mandate a Catalytic Converter and our car doesn’t currently have one. So, can anyone advise what we need to do to fit one please?
Specifically, having spliced one into the exhaust system, do we need to swap ECU or any other engine systems in order to keep it happy?
The regulations are such that the car must be as per production, so the fact that it is a race car is irrelevant really. In short then, what do you need to convert a standard non-Cat 318is to a standard ”˜Cat’ 318is?
We aren’t particularly bothered about getting the maximum performance possible as E30’s are not eligible at the end of this year, so will be switching to an E36 from 2010 onwards anyway. (This is a learning year).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom.

Think they did a cat model in he US, i have a wiring diagaram for the ecu and it has pins alocated for lambda sensor and other cat related connections, if you just fit one and put a wire in to the dash would they know? how do they check for them?
