That sounds like a recipie for spinning off the road to me <shrug>
Best setup would be the same decent make tyres all round, if you need to alter the balance you could then try slight pressure adjustments?

Yoko 205/40/17 A539's Ԛ£69 a corner fitted, new valve & balanced at my local tyre place. Not bad I thought

I've got nankangs on and they are shite. Put it this way they don't inspire me to push the car on corners that much even in the dry and the grip is tragic in the wet. For Yoko's at that price there's no excuse for buying nankangs.

They were on my car when I got it by the way :roll:

Another thought, if you want cheap tyres why not buy the toyos in 205/50/15 instead of 205/55/15, they'll be a few quid cheaper and you get the added advantage of slightly lowering your car and improving the gearing for better acceleration

I'll probably do this when I need a new set

See the point there but I am at standard ride height ... won't 205/50 look a bit small in comparison to the 195/65 ?? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick ?? Would dearly love the car to look lower ...

I ran both Toyos and Nankangs on my old E30, the Nangcraps were rubbish in the wet, but they were hard wearing. Toyos T1-Rs were great, esp considering the price they go for, however a bit soft. They wore noticebly quicker than the Nangkangs even tho i didnt have the car all that long! 8O

You have 195/65/15?? they're too big
195/65 is the size for 14in rims
205/55 is the std 15" size

in which case 205/55 will be the same size
the 205/50 are about 2cm diameter smaller, so that would be a 20mm drop, the tyres still look OK in my opinion

How much would a couple of Toyo T1's set me back for the front wheels? 15x7.5.

I can live with shit rear tires for a little bit, but the fronts worry me!

If id have had the money i would definately have gone for the Sp9000's over the F1's and the Toyo's

Looking at the ratings they get - they cost that little bit more for a very good reason - wet and dry grip and sensible wear rates!! I will get some next time when money is at less of a premium

Thought I would finally go for the Dunlop .... now the price on the internet has gone up by Ԛ£20 per tyre ..bast*rds
Missed out on that bargain .....

So looks like the Toyo T1-R's unless the price goes down again but the way my luck is going they will go up further !!

Thinking im gonna order some fronts next month, bit skint this time round!

Not sure if i should go for 50 or 55,s , im only changing the fronts first so i doubt it will do anything performance wise.

You could always stick you rears on the front, then put new 205/50 on the rear?
Though I think if your only switching two you're probably best staying on the same tyre size all round.
I'd still rotate & put the new tyres on the rear though, probably better that way from a wear point of view, and safety having better tyres at the back

If you're putting new tyres on the rear don't expect any grip for the first 100 miles or so! :roll:

EDIT: Just in case you didn't know, because I didn't 'til I had a bit of a scare after putting new rears on 8O

Yeh. At the end of the day id much rather good fronts. The only time ive felt uncomfortable or have lost it is when the fronts just dont do anything causing me to lose control, understeer is the gay

Hmm well I ended up 90 degree to a roundabout today with my shitty rear tyres in the wet when they let go without warning, personally I find a little understeer much easier to deal with <shrug>

had nankangs with my first wheels hadnt driven e30 before that changed to the dunlops when the nankangs wore out could nt beleive the difference car handles so much better can push it a lot harder in the bends well worth the extra

i have bridgestone potenza on my cabby and Falkens on my sport (both 16/205/50, no difference what so ever, but Falkens half price! cant vouch for wet as it never rains here!!

Thinking about lowering now as the front shocks need replacing anyway .... held the tyre order .... now 205/50/15 I think if it's lowered 40mm

i've had those toyos b4 an they lasted about 4 months they well soft!!good tyres in the winter though, now got some cheapo wan li's Ԛ£130 for 2 ive done about 10 dirty burnouts with them an they stil look like new :lol: :lol:
dangerous in the wet mind u, but i like a challege!!
made of PLASTIC!!! :lol:
definatly be gettin some toyos 4 the winter period though!!

Just my 2p.......
Dunlops are the best when it's dry, but I find them noisy.
Goodyears rule in the wet and they're quieter.
Pirellis and Nankangs last forever but are bordering on dangerous in the wet.
My Touring had Nankangs on when I bought it and I couldn't wait to wear them out. As it was I had them changed at 3.5mm. I'd put 20k on them and only scrubbed off 3mm!!
I have Lassas on at the moment. They're ok for me, but you guys would probably find they don't have enough grip in the wet.
Next time it will have to be Goodyears for me - I always used to insist on them, and I think I'll be going back to them.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

RIGHT HERE WE GO......... it wont be the first time & it probably wont be the last time that I am the odd one out on here but i have to tell you that I have Nankang Ultra Sports NS=II 205/40/R17 84V on my 325i Motorsport. In the past on other E30's i have had I've worn Falkens, Avons, Pirelli's and the like and IMO these are top notch tyres!! 8)

I drive the car how it should be driven and since Ive had these boots on I actually add a few more RPM's on cornering cos I know I can confidently.

How can so many of us be so diverse in our thinking ? :mad:
