just a loom or adaptor for the E30 loom plug realy, then just remove AFM and fit a pipe in its place, if your going with the M3 throttle bodies then you'd idealy need a airbox/plenum over them and then a large filter on that.

Dont know if you could use a map sensor aswell to your advantage, think when they do the "standalone" on the M3's they just map against Throttle position and RPM Alfa n :D

So don't you need at least a better TPS and possibly some kind of inlet vacuum sensor?

Inlet vacume sensor is the same as a MAP (manifold air pressure, or lack of pressure)sensor but no you dont need one.

The TPsensor is fine on the IS mines a standard one and its got loads of definition, i got 300+ sites when i set it up on my emerald.

When you say loom adaptor Matt, do you mean one that plugs into the OE ECU connector to adapt it to the MS ECU?

You could do it like that or make a new loom what ever.

i bought a spare ecu choped all wires off then soldered each wire from the emerald plug to the correct pin on the bmw loom to make and adaptor, like the ones you get for a head unit to go from DIN to Sony/alpine/clarion, means if i ever want to run mine standard or to sell it as an origonal IS then i havent burnt my boats and i can still remove the ecu from the car as the emerald unplugs from its look plug of the adaptor, it was only about 30 wires and then i made another small loom for the Map sensor and charge cooling pump switch.

Ive seen it done with mega squirt and m20s so sure it would work on a IS to.

i did have a picyutr some were i'll have a look..... :D

Nice one cheers bud. One of the companys that import the MS systems is less than 3 miles from my house so I might go and have a chat with them about it.

@Pharaoh: I can supply you with the megasquirt system if you haven't already got it.

Interesting. Would I be right in saying that the M20 TPS only detects open/closed? (M20 is my frame of reference)

This is an interesting prospect for an interim solution, gets programmable maps, and can run turbo on standard ECU, may not quite have the resolution or detail of a standalone but looks like it will get very close to 95% of what most people require...
