Hi All
I've currently got the carpet out of my cab and am planning to lay the cable for the sounds while I'm there I'm thinkin I may as well do a leci arial. Does anyone know where I can get the arial from, will BMW stock it?
Also re wiring is it as simple as live, ground and remote or am I likely to have specific wires coming from the head unit (apline, newish)?
Thanks

Should be an easy find, most accessory places will do one.
Wiring should be 3 wires, one permanent live, one earth, and one (live) wire to the radio, usually blue. This will power the aerial up when the radio is turned on, and down when it's turned off.

Should be no problem from BMW, just don't know for sure.
Just run 2 wires aerial to radio, and an earth to the aerial earth in the boot.
Perm live to radio perm live (not the one that's switched on the ignition), and the other to the radio's blue wire.

I would assume one from BM would be pretty pricey!!!
Halfords do them - or if you can find a local car accessory/parts place, i would think you will get a better deal!!!
That is, assuming you haven't got one from someone here yet!!

As said above Tari, any motorist shop will do them, Halfords, Motorbitz or wherever.
BMW should do them too, but at a cost.

Tari do a search on electric aerials,if you have a original bmw/hirschman aerial you can change just the shaft which is just as easy as changing the whole thing and costs less. That is if its just the shaft thats knackered sure that I read something about teeth wearing out.

I bought and fitted a cheap eBay jobbie a couple of months back, works perfectly and looks very nice. Search for E30 aerial and will come up with a £19.95 + shipping jobbie froma sounds place in London, highly recommended.

Thanks for the advice guys..
I think I mite have a go at opening it and repairing it, as I'm pretty sure I've got some old bits somewhere.. If not I might settle for an ebay job if they're as good as you say.
I have been toying with the idea of removing the arial and fitting some sort off device that would give me clear radio..
Has anyone ever got good reception with the arial removed? My previous sport had it already removed when I got it and I gave up on trying to get clear radio in that one.. I tried everything from arials in the dash to those antenna boosters, and still no luck.
