comes up alot of the time with "CD ERROR" which usually requires the magazine to be removed and replaced and then it usually plays ok,but it doesent take much for it to jump and skip about.not sure if it playes cd-r's either, havent managed it yet. :(

I know mine played cd-rw's without any problem's. Have you checked the wires for a possible loose connection?

yes, had it apart a couple of times now, fitted some subs the other week. all the connections seem ok. theres only the din lead and the power supply plug going in to it. the rest of the wiring in there is for the amp thats part of the bmw buisness stereo system.
was yours the same year and model? did it have the pioneer cdx-m40 6 disc changer? if it did and yours played cd-r's knowing that would be a great help. :D
