Got my engine out over the weekend and spent an hour stripping it down this evening. Unfortunately every part I took off worried me more!! Crank has a good 6mm movement end to end and the bores are scored badly so will need new pistons :-x

I'll take some pictures tomorrow but am having a big think tonight. Part of me says do a proper rebuild with turbo in mind but that could run to £1k plus and then there is all the turbo bits as well :(

If I did the bare minimum I'm still going to be into big money for an M30. I need this car run in and stable for 10 weeks time for a ring trip so not quite sure which way to go!

I have been looking for a month for another engine but not found anything worth buying yet, and I just dont have the space/time to buy a full car and strip it as my workshop is 200 miles away!

Anyone got any helpful thoughts? I have looked at other engines conversions but not sure I have the time to get one in and running reliably in time!

I think buying a complete car is the quickest, cheapest option Henry.

It's gonna be big, that much end-float means the crank's thrust bearings are FUBAR and there is a possibility of the crank itself being damaged. A replacement lump is the best option if it is. :(

yup think I have come to the decision to keep looking for another car. Wonder if Si13 fancies breaking one winkeye

Also decided to stay with the M30, I have everything done for it and suspension etc matched to the engine.
