Discoloured boot spoiler

My boot spoiler is a real mess, gone very pink and patchy.

Has anyone managed to polish it back to original finish, I don't want to spray it as it wont match the 19 year old paint colour of the rest of the car.

i tried polishing my one on my 316 - its brilliant red... well the spoiler was! But the lacquer is peeling too. Polish made it a little better but not alot. I might try some of that polish which has the colour pigment in it to see if it makes it any better for the meantime before i get it resprayed

Yes checking again, the lacquer is knackered, need to spray it!

If yours is anything like mine it will definately benefit a respray. IMO, it will look better being resprayed (even if it is slightly out) than being pink and flaky!

(thats after being polished by the way with muc off miracle shine polish - ace stuff!)

Mines worse than that! The spoiler and the pink, rusty, sand blasted bonnet really let it down otherwise its quite tidy bearing in mind age and mileage!

if its worse than that, i would say respray without a doubt. Especially considering the lacquer is peeling anyway.

Once the lacquer peels it needs a respray...simple as that.
