Did any E30's have these as standard?

Reason I'm asking is that I just got a switch off ebay for a couple of quid that was advertised as 'Illuminated'. I asked the seller if it lit up when (driving) lights are switched on (like the hazard light switch) and he confirmed it did.

Switch arrives, put it in, doesn't light up with hazard light switch when lights are on. Hmmm. Lights up fine when the switch is pushed on.

Is there such a thing as an illuminated rear de-mist switch? Could it be that the necessary wiring to make it light up is missing in my car if the switch doesn't light up?

Not a massively important issue and I wouldn't have bothered with it if I hadn't have stumbled across it on Ebay but would be good to know... :D

Yes I've seen that but was wondering if there was an original equipment switch that had the capacity to do it

Just had a look at the Wiki article and I think I need to do the first half of the procedure with the wiring from the hazard switch to make the demist switch work (providing the switch has the capacity to light up this way). Can anyone clarify if I'm right and if there's such a thing as a demist switch that was designed to light up this way?

I had this "modded" switch on my old tourer.
IIRC, Smithy318i is the one to ask about this........ ?

On my touring the rear-heat switch lights up when selected - thought they all came like that as I''m 99% sure mine hasn't been played with in it's previous life

They all illuminate when in use but they need some fettling to make them illuminate when the lights are on but it isn't in use.

Hmm, so nobody's sure if there was ever a standard BMW made switch with this capability to illuminate when the lights are turned on?

Maybe I'll wire it into the hazard light switch and see - only way to find out i guess!!!
