Hi,

I am trying to fit my m tech 2 front lower valance (not the bumper). This will probably sound silly, but does it fit over the top of the existing standard metal valance, or do i have to remove it and then fit the mtech? Also does the front upper bumper just pull off if i give it a yank??

Thanks very much for any help,

Hi,

Also do the lower side skirts fit to the car along the bottom using clips, or do i need to drill holes in the strip underneath my car to bolt them on?

Again many thanks, i a really stuck here!! :(

Hi 318-is. I have the full kit (and its genuine, dont know if that makes a difference!?). So the skirts do need drilling underneath, not clips? (sorry if im being slow on this, never done one before!).

Hi mate,
The valance fits over the standard panel rivets underneath and using clips at the top (get theses from BMW) there are clips that hold the s/skirts onto th sill lip so it all just snaps on.

Hi guys,

Thanks for that help. I think i will be able to fit it all ok now. Im glad the valance fits over the standard one, becuase it looked like a big job to take off otherwise!! I will go off to buy the clips tommorrow, and a tool for the back bumper. Should have it fitted by the weekend now :D . Thanks again,

Just done one myself so i can help yer out a bit me thinks..

FIXING TOP:

Valance just slips over the existing frame of the car,be carefull you dont split the sides when you get to that stage..try to do it at least as poss..once to see if it looks ok then while it there, mark where the clips will go for the top part..your see what i mean when you look closely at the inside top of the valance..you can see there are roughly 5-6 etched out spacers which house the clips..get a marker and place a mark on yer car where these clips will 'hit' and there about 10mm in from the edge if i remember correctly....take the valanc eoff again and drill yer holes..get some rust prevention primer..(hamerite) and give yer holes a lil spray..youve just drilled and exposed bare metal so its worth it.next time you touch the valance your fix it permently, this way youve handled it as least as poss to protect yer sides..

once youve got clips fix them to yer valance ready to find yer pre drilled holes..they just find there own way and you hammer down the rivet in the middle of em once in place and there fixed..

FIXING BOTTOM:

make sure youve got ALL the original clips off from underneath yer car where yer old splitter was..there white clips located approx 5 times along the underside/front of the car....from the stealers diagram your see that the bottom is held by lil black rivets...these push through brackets located on the bottom of the valance and these in turn find the holes that are originaly there and DID hold the clips in that you broke off earlier..

VALANCE SORTED

Thats very muvh for that long post. It has given me a clear picture in my mind of what needs doing. I now realise i need more clips than i thought! By the way do i remove my vents from my standard valance, and buy new 'm tech' ones? Or will they fit the mtech to?!

Also does anybody know what size drill bit i need for drilling holes in my front wings to attatch my side skirts? Also do i use rivets from my local stealer? Im sorry to ask so many questions, but dont want to do it wrong.

Thanks again guys, :D :D
