Nice project, there're never too many V8 E30 cabrios :)

There aren't turbo-kits for M60/M62 but supercharger kits are available. Though fitting charger to E30 bay with V8 isn't quite easy but doable if you cut some metal..

E34 V8's have ratios around 2,8 so try finding 325e or 525td LSD (those've 2,65-2,79 ratios).

Nice car, will be even better with an m60 in it.

Is your front lip one of these (No. 6)?

Can't quite see from the pic if yours has the same bits at the side or not.

Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.

Currently in a diesel Audi - miss me old E30's....

finally done something to this, been in america with work and moving workshop. new workshop is lovely so that'll help.

i thought i'd start with a simple job to get going so map light mirror is in and electric sunroof mod nearly finished just need to calibrate the stops and i can pop the trim back on. no need for pictures as that'd be a bit tedius.

hopefully test fit the engine and gearbox next week so i can start mocking up some mounts :D

Diff ratio would be 3.25 or lower. 3.15 is ideal, 2.93 even better if doing motorway miles, but hard to find in LSD. I had a 3.9 open diff in my V8, was great fun! Round-abouts are another matter in the wet.

What are you doing brake wise? I'll be running 4 pot f/r with no servo assist, but twin M/C on a balance bar under the dash.

Twin turbo V8

I think a Jaguar v8 blower MIGHT fit, but it'd be hard work and definately would stick out of the bonnet!

brake wise i was thinking wms calipers, not decided about master yet, was considering master cylinder where battery is , with or without servo, trying to find one small enough

what engine mounts and manifolds have you used?

Mounts were made by bigdek, manifolds were modified by Glenn possibly. MC will fit in the battery tray, but you'd still have the same issues in my opinion. Servo won't fit there, golf or otherwise. Twin MC on a bias bar will, but I still haven't found one that will fit there.

finally done some stuff to the car,

bought some e39 525 tds mounts or whatever the heck jonsku recommended , stuck them on the subframe and bolted plates to them,

Image

heat shield is to protect them when i weld the mounts up

i then cut out plates to go on the engine

Image

Image

then slung the engine in

Image

plan is to now jig engine up into the position i want it then weld up some rough mounts, i'll then use these to get the geometry to create some lovely mounts using 3d cad (inventor) , which i'll then have made by a local fab company who can make them far better then i could

rear of gearbox attached with normal e30 mount :)

Image

hopefully start the rough mounts this week at some point

slight problem as i lose my workshop the 1st of august, so i think the plan now is ignore suspension ect, get the engine actually in and running and then finish the rest on axle stands in the back yard, not really ideal

main thing stopping quick progress is money for new parts such as flywheel and clutch
