M5 V8 Engine into E30???

Has anyone ever tried or done this?? Ive got an 325i Sport & fancy more go-go, been offered a 2001 M5 thats for breaking only.. Thought it would be a awesome conversion!!!![/b]

It's doable, but S62's are very expensive engines.
Basically the physical stuff is same as swapping M60 or M62 (lots of info on www.e30.de and here're my project pics http://users.tkk.fi/jhaukile/E30_V8.html ).
Electronics are the "big problem". You need to buy and map new ECU (Autronic, Motec, KMS) => lots of money, or try to get original S62 ECU with all CAN-stuff to work with E30 => lots of problems.
So basically it's doable. I imagine budjet around 10-15k€ is realistic.
Here's one, more pics here.

Seems like you can run the engine without all the CAN-bus equipements by remapping the ECU . Some dude from M5board swapped this engine into an E34 M5.
