Steering shake on 525

Mates got a shake on the steering wheel at about 60mph .
Its a 1995 e34 525 diesel
Its had wheels balanced and had the tracking done
Bearings are fine
Any ideas guys as were stumped

sounds like the upper control arms, if you brake at 65 and it shakes really bad then i would guess there shot! very common also check all the steering links for play there is a total of 11 arms/link rods and can be a pain to pin point the shimmy but normaly it is the upper set of arms, a good mod is to get 750i control arms bushings pressed in as its cheap and there a hell of a lot stronger. hope this helps you out.

also cheak the rear sub frame bushes they play havoc with the car when they are gone
