Ive had my car on the road now for a couple of months after fitting a M50 and i had it fully resprayed and was happily driving around in for a couple of weeks with it fully completed.
Then today came...
I was on my way to work indicated to turn right and came to a stop to wait for the traffic to pass when i saw a white renault laguna speeded at me in my rear view mirror, she obviously saw me late and skidded towards me, seeing this i edged forward and she stopped short, i breahted a sigh of relief then just as im about to drive off a mini cooper plows into the back of the renault and subsequently in to me. F**K i shout and park up get out to look at the damage.
Hit on the passenger side, rear lense cracked i think i got off lightly then i see the rear panel has been shoved back and bulged the boot floor a bit, my tech 2 rear bumper took a hit but only popped it off the side runners on the drivers side, there were a few scratches but no other visible damage.
Took it to see the insurance company approved repairer! The list he compiled was new rear bumper, new rear panel, new rear lense's and a new boot floor just for starter.
I'll be getting the quote thru the post soon altho i do have to go and see the insurance accessor next tues to see if they are going to right it off or not. Im thinking the answer will be a resounding YES.
As you can imagine i was not best pleased esp as its only been painted recently aswell.

Have a chat with the engineer, if you convince him you can get it repaired cheaply he may not write it off. (Although this is unlikely)
However, given tyhe recent work that has gone into it he should give you a good valuation and then you can have it repaired.
Not ideal I know but not hopeless.
Edit: Also, don't forget to pop to the Dr's about your sore neck, shoulder and lower back......
Oh, and any breakables/"shopping" that were in the boot too.

Sorry to hear this.
If you haven't got agreed value insurance then it will 99% be written off.

It's a right f*cker from the fact it's someone elses fault. Some witless c*nt causing you unecessary stress and hassle. My mate had a non-fault claim and his premium went up because he'd made a claim (even though he didn't claim on his own insurance)
You just can't win- it's a bloody shame...

why should it cost you more when you renew?
it shouldn't do that even if an accident was YOUR fault , if you have portected ncb bb.

Damn, that is a shame. Wtf was going on with the two people. Surely a car stopped at a junction is fairly obvious!
Almost definatly a write off. Only a sport or m3 could stomach the costs of the repairs and not get written off.

Make sure it's done as a "third party" company. The principles of insurance are that you shouldn't profit from a loss.BigBavarian wrote:I think they look better with a tech 1 spoiler! May see if i can supply the parts to the repair company aswell!!
So if you supply the parts as "Joe Bloggs" then they'll be expected to be at what they actually cost you.
However, if you supply them as a company (ie "BB plc") then as long as there is no reference to you personally within the company title you should be ok. (I hope that makes sense...)
The way to do it would be to have BigBavarian invoice you personally for the items and then claim it back by presenting a labour invoice from the garage and a parts invoice from yourself.
I've not explained that very well i'm afraid. I'll have a think and try to put it in proper english in an order that makes sense.

I woul;dn't be able to supply the parts anyway they go direct to BMW for that so will most likely be writen off, but itwill be back and better than ever. Well more power anyway dont think a accident damaged and repaired car will ever be better than one thats accident free

Aw man I'm sorry to read of this. It's hassle all the way from the stress of getting clouted in any given day, to the waiting game, to getting repaired. But at least you can repair I guess, good that it didn't get written off.
All my sympathies BB.

gutted for you hope it all gets sorted
Lol thats not how pncb works sadly.adit wrote:why should it cost you more when you renew?it shouldn't do that even if an accident was YOUR fault , if you have portected ncb bb.
Protected ncb means you do not lose how ever many years ncb you have if you are involved in an accident.
No claims bonus gives you a % discount on your premium which is worked out upon your claims history, risks etc.
So lets say you have had 4 crashes and your premium works out at £1500 if you have 4 years ncb they will reduce it by lets say 15%.If you have no ncb it will stay at £1500.
Pncb does not give you an allowance to go round writing cars of all over the place and it not affecting your insurance.
a car crashed into my m8's car and drove off,it was parked outside his house.
he had fully comp and 5 yrs ncb protected,he had to claim on his own insurance.
renewal quote £140 more than the previous year

Insurance is a racket. They manipulate statistics in order to profiteer - your premium goes up if you are in a 'non-fault' accident because they uphold that this misfortune instantly makes you more likely to make a claim at a later date.
There is some tenuous logic to this - for example, if you are the sort of person who makes sudden, late-braking, left turns without indicating, and are hence regularly rear-ended by 'at fault' parties, it stands to reason that your driving is more likely to result in you having some sort of accident of your own in the future, despite the fact that your accidents have not legally been your fault. But this does rather assume that we all drive round without a care in the world for our own safety, as though thinking 'f*** it, we're insured, it'll be alright'. It's a rather condescending position, but unfortunately the best you can do is hold the buggers to account - shop around, and don't accept their bullsh*t at any stage.

That is shit mate, hope they do repair it for you!!
I hate it when stuff like that happens, I keep spotting new little marks on mine from carparks and things.
I got rear-ended last year, fortunately it was in my off road prepared disco....... Tank guard and HD bumper 1, Transit 0.
